Samsung Electronics is the first business in this industry to mass-produce GDDR6 DRAMs. Graphic card manufacturers are now able to release their next-generation products, which drastically reduce size and electricity consumption, on proper time through 16Gb GDDR6 DRAM.
“We started to mass-produce world’s first 20-nano 8Gb GDDR5 DRAMs (8Gbps) in December of 2014 and we once again started to mass-produce world’s first 10-nano 16Gb GDDR6 DRAMs (18Gbps), which double speed and capacity of GDDR5 DRAM, that have helped us to lead growth of markets for premium graphic DRAMs.

Samsung Electronics is predicting that 16Gb GDDR6 DDRAM will be an optimum solution for learning system based on parallel computing for implementing AI and development of 8K resolution super-high quality systems.

Samsung Electronics established this industry’s biggest lineup of premium memories by being the only business to supply 2.4Gbps 8GB HBM2 DRAM (transmission of 307GB data per second) and 18Gbps 10-nano 16GB and 8Gb GDDR6 DRAMs (transmission of 72GB data per second) and it has been carrying the growth of this market.

It is heard that Samsung Electronics’ competitors are also working fast to prepare mass-production system for GDDR6 DRAMs.

SK Hynix is planning to mass-produce 20-nano 8Gb GDDR6 DRAMs, which were developed last year, starting from the second quarter. In addition, it is going to finish development of 10-nano 16Gb GDDR6 DRAM during the second half of this year and start mass-producing it in early 2019.

“Nintendo Switch makes it easy for anyone to enjoy their games in the living room and then quickly take them on the go,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. “This versatile system allows people to play in unexpected places. Nintendo Switch comes with the main console, Joy-Con (L) and Joy-Con (R) controllers, a Joy-Con grip (to which two Joy-Con are attached and used as one controller), a set of Joy-Con straps, a Nintendo Switch dock (which holds the main console and connects it to a TV), an HDMI cable and an AC adapter.

Nintendo Switch connects to a TV at home and can instantly transform into an on-the-go handheld using its 6.2-inch high-definition screen. The screen includes capacitive multi-touch capabilities for compatible games. The left Joy-Con has a Capture Button that players can press to take instant screen shots of gameplay to share with friends on their social media pages. The right Joy-Con includes an NFC touchpoint for interaction with amiibo figures, as well as an IR Motion Camera that can approximate the distance, shape and motion of nearby objects in specially designed games. Both Joy-Con include motion controls and an advanced HD Rumble feature. The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, sold separately includes all the same features (minus the IR Motion Camera) and comes in a more traditional form factor.

Today also marks the launch of the first epic Nintendo Switch game, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which breaks new boundaries while honoring the origins of the acclaimed series. The DualShock 4 controller will be required to play games so those who don’t already have it will have to purchase it. A pretty strong internet connection is also needed in order to stream the games without any hiccups, Sony recommends connections of 5Mbps or higher.

PlayStation Now first went live last year and that too on the PlayStation 4. Sony has not yet launched this service on the PlayStation 3 yet but is expected to do so later this year. The service is available on devices like the PlayStation Vita, PlayStation TV and certain Blu-ray players and TVs from Sony.

Sony confirmed in December last year that it will bring PlayStation Now game streaming to Samsung smart TVs, and today it has finally followed through on that promise.

Samsung Smart TV owners can stream from the library which contains more than 100 PlayStation 3 titles, they can purchase Sony’s $19.99 per month PlayStation Now subscription for the purpose of streaming any of the available games whenever they want.
