After its release on Steam, Intelligible Games celebrates the launch of the quirky visual novel debate adventure Pro Philosopher 2: Governments and Grievances on Mac computers for $11.99 USD. Players can also get their hands on Pro Philosopher 2’s original soundtrack.

So far, media have praised Pro Philosopher 2 for its clever reasoning puzzles and political arguments:

  • “One of the best visual novels of 2024” — Inverse
  • “Bigger, Better, and philosophicaler” — Rock Paper Shotgun
  • “An awesomely creative way to transpose a debate into a video game” — GameSpot

“Politics is not an easy topic to tackle and we went for it directly, making this game over many nights and weekends with a lot of love and care.” says Connor Fallon, game designer and writer. “I’m so proud of the team, and hope playing this game gives people a fun way to see the world from new perspectives. And also, that they like our many, many stupid jokes.”

ABOUT THE GAME

In Pro Philosopher 2, follow college student Ari as she’s knocked out of her daily life and into a strange realm between life-and-death full of history’s most famous (and infamous) thinkers. Confront philosophers to save Ari’s mother from this mysterious purgatory and answer the age-old question “what is the ideal form of government”. Master logical moves to untangle argument puzzles, find internal contradictions, and cause your opponents to freak out to bring Ari and her mother closer to returning to the land of the living.

This is the long-awaited follow up to the hit 2013 browser game Socrates Jones: Pro Philosopher, where an out-of-his-depth accountant was forced to debate moral philosophy to win back his life. Socrates Jones: Pro Philosopher was the top rated and top played game the month of its release on Kongregate. 11 years later, players can embark on an all new political philosophy narrative adventure and a series of interactive debates with brilliant thinkers from across history.

KEY FEATURES

  • Riveting Philosophical Debates: Use your opponent’s statements against them to find logical contradictions! Debate the validity of philosophical arguments to find the true nature of political thought.
  • A Cast From Across History: Engage with colorful renditions of famous (and infamous) philosophers, including Karl Marx, John Locke, Confucius, Niccolò Machiavelli, and more yet to be revealed. Analyze new belief systems to expand your mind and put your debate skills to the test.
  • A Visual Novel Adventure: Enjoy an expressive art style with 2.5D visual novel gameplay, and presentational flourishes bring both drama and humor to the philosophy-packed adventure.

You can check an animated musical narrative trailer—bet you’ve never heard that one before—spotlighting the game’s cast of philosophers and the life-or-death stakes behind each riveting debate.
